Raw material preparation
Ultra high purity melting: Electron beam melting (EBM) technology is used to ensure that the purity of niobium matrix is ≥ 99.9%, the key impurity oxygen (O) content is ≤ 100ppm, the hafnium (Hf) content is precisely controlled at 9-11%, and the titanium (Ti) content is 0.7-1.3%.
Alloying control: Adding hafnium and titanium elements in a vacuum environment, achieving uniform distribution of components through electromagnetic stirring.
Hot processing forming
Squeezing and opening
Squeezing the ingot under inert gas protection at 1200 ℃ to form the initial billet.
Precision rolling
Wrap the stainless steel protective cover and roll it multiple times to a cross-sectional size of 17mm × 17mm;
The length of 500mm is achieved through temperature controlled stretching process, with a tolerance controlled within ± 0.1mm.

Aerospace propulsion system

Technical limitations
- Oxidation sensitivity: Catastrophic powdering oxidation is prone to occur in uncoated environments at 600-800 ℃, and a protective layer of 5 must be forcibly applied;
- Processing with large aspect ratio: Rolling with a length of 500mm is prone to bending deformation and relies on precision straightening equipment for compensation.
The C103 sheet with a specification of 17mm × 17mm × 500mm is integrated through sleeve rolling and coating technology, which combines high temperature strength (1200 ℃ ≥ 85MPa) and precision structural adaptability, making it an ideal material for aerospace micro thrusters and nuclear energy shielding components. In the future, breakthroughs are needed in deformation control technology for ultra long billet rolling.
