Zirconium wire production process
Raw material purification: Zirconia concentrate is obtained from ores such as zircon through crushing, flotation, high-temperature chlorination, and other steps, and then high-purity sponge zirconium (purity ≥ 99.6%, oxygen content ≤ 500ppm) is generated by magnesium thermal reduction method.
Smelting and refining: Vacuum arc melting (vacuum degree ≤ 5 × 10 ⁻ ² Pa) or electron beam cold bed melting technology is used to melt sponge zirconium into homogeneous zirconium ingots, with impurity elements reduced to ppm level; During the refining stage, residual gas impurities are removed through vacuum distillation.

Precision machining: After hot forging and breaking the coarse crystal structure of zirconium ingots (800-950 ℃), they are gradually formed through multiple drawing processes: tungsten steel molds (aperture accuracy ± 0.05mm) are used for initial drawing, intermediate annealing (argon environment, 600-750 ℃) is used to eliminate work hardening, and finally diamond molds (aperture ≤ 0.1mm) are used to pull them to fine wires (diameter 0.01-0.5mm) with a surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.4 μ m.
